Need help writing your children's book?

I’m here to help

Dear Friends and Writers,

Writing a book and editing it for publishing in the children's book market has its challenges. What better way to fast-track your creative process and successful career as a writer than to have some professional guidance! I'm Marya Jansen-Gruber, a children’s book reviewer and editor, here to help you develop as a children's book writer or illustrator for children’s books. Whether you are writing a children’s book just for your family, or to become a professional children’s book author, I can help make your work the best it can be.

Please look around this site. The Services page tells you more about the services that I offer. About me tells you more about my background and unique qualifications to help you succeed in the children’s book market.

As editor and publisher of Through the Looking Glass Children's Book Reviews, I have a solid grasp of what it takes to become a published children's book author, and I'd love to help shape your manuscript— You will have a partner on your writing journey and the comfort of knowing you don't have to figure out the writing process on your own.

You can contact me to discuss your children’s book project at 541.552.0753 or editor@lookingglassreview.com

What I do

I offer a variety of services to people who want to write books for children. If you have a story idea, I will help you develop it. If you have a manuscript, I will help you make it the best that it can be. In addition to these services, I offer something else— support.

If your story starts to wander and lose direction, I will help you figure out what to do. If you get stuck or are faced with writer's block, I will be there to help you. If a character starts to run amok (which they have a tendency to do in longer books), I will help you get that character to be more cooperative. If you can’t find time to write I will help you create a schedule that is manageable. If you are discouraged, I will be there to support you.

This holistic approach to supporting a writer is something that I feel all writers should have. I won’t just look at your work, I will also look at you, and help you find what you are looking for during your writing journey.

Holistic:  relating to or concerned with wholes or with complete systems rather than with the analysis of, treatment of, or dissection into parts.

Through the Looking Glass Children's Book Reviews is the sister site to Children’s Book Writing Services. I'm the editor and publisher of the site, reviewing dozens of books each month. I encourage aspiring authors take a look at this and other book review websites, to become familiar with what is happening in the children’s book world.

This website is also a great resource for teachers, home schoolers, parents, grandparents, librarians and children. There are over 4,000 book reviews on the site as well as feature pages, author and illustrator profiles, and much more. I only write positive reviews.

If your child has trouble reading, glasses or contacts may be all he or she needs to see and enjoy books of all kinds.
